Are you uninsured and in need of medical or dental care?

The Good Samaritan Center may be able to help you.

We render service to members of our community who are uninsured and are earning less than 250% of the federal poverty level (for example, a household of four that earns less than $69,375 per year). We meet critical health needs for Blanco, Gillespie, Kimble, and Mason counties, as well as the towns of Comfort and Brady.

If you want to know if you qualify for our services, or if you want to set up an eligibility appointment,

please call us at 830-990-8651.

Questions and Answers about The Good Samaritan Center:

When are you open?

GSC is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We begin answering the phones at 9 a.m. on those days. Medical clinic appointments are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; Monday appointments are dedicated to women's health concerns with our female Family Nurse Practitioner. ALL appointments must be scheduled in advance. The Center is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and some holidays.

How much do services cost?

At GSC medical appointments cost between $20 and $40 on a sliding scale. Imaging and blood work test cost an additional fee. Dental appointments cost between $30 and $50 on a sliding scale. There is no charge for the first mental health appointment with the Licensed Professional Counselor, but follow up visits with the LPC cost $10.

How do I become a patient?

If you are a new patient, you must first set up an eligibility appointment. You will be asked to bring a proof of address and proof of income for everyone who lives with you and receives money. When you call for your eligibility appointment at (830) 990-8651, our advisor can answer any questions you may have about what documents you need to bring.

If you have been a patient at GSC but haven't been here in over a year, you will need to update your paperwork. If you have any questions, please call us.

How long must I wait to get an appointment?

Our goal is always to see new patients as soon as possible. Like any doctor's office, how long it takes to get an appointment will depend on how many patients are already scheduled. Generally, we see most new patients in less than a month after they have established eligibility.

I have Medicare/Medicaid/CHIP.  Can you help me?

We are sorry, but GSC does not see individuals who have health insurance, this includes Medicaid, Medicare, or CHIP. The one possible exception is our dental clinic. If your health insurance does not include dental coverage, you may be eligible for an appointment with our dental clinic.
